In the Castelli Romani area, the ‘Hospitable Lands Tour – Castelli Romani and Monti Prenestini’ connects Rocca di Papa with Rocca Priora by way of Frascati, Monte Porzio Catone and Monte Compatri, via a network of well-marked foot or cycle paths. The tour is approximately 30 kilometres and the route is managed by the Regional Park of Castelli Romani. The slopes of the Prenestini are ideal for families as they offer a mixture of nature, science, history and art. The tour is partly on foot and partly by car and includes a visit to the village and the Castel San Pietro Romano Virtual Museum, the Observatory, the ‘Ardito Desio’ Geopaleontological Museum in Rocca di Cave and the Natural History Museum of Capranica Prenestina.
What is more, visitors can request a guided tour to discover the historic centre of Palestrina or along the ancient walls up to Castel San Pietro Romano.
Finally, it is worth a walk to Piazza della Pace in Palestrina to admire the Sanctuary of Fortuna Primigenia and the Antro delle Sorti. We recommend setting out on this walk at sunset when the sun is absolutely stunning on the brick houses in the historic centre.
